Join us for our presentation of Johann Sebastian Bach's extraordinary Mass in B Minor, a work widely regarded as one of the supreme achievements of classical music.
J. S. Bach produced a prodigious amount of music over his long career. The Mass in B Minor was one of his last compositions, not completed until 1749, the year before his death, at a time when musical composition was moving away from the Baroque style. He never heard it sung in its entirety. It is comprised of an astonishing range of material, ideas, and information, from the use of ancient Gregorian chant to precursors of modern classicism. Many believe Bach compiled the Mass as a summation of his life's work. The glorious choruses are interwoven with lovely solo arias, all accompanied by the San Jose Baroque Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Leroy Kromm.
Produced by the San Jose Symphonic Choir; performance at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga, California on Sunday March 25, 2018 at 4:00 pm. Discounted ticket prices available until Saturday March 24, 2018.
